A postdoctoral position is available starting June 1, 2010 in the Department of Pediatric Surgery to study intestinal contractile dysfunction. Resuscitation induced intestinal edema after traumatic injury has been shown to cause intestinal dysmotility that hinders patient recovery. Our laboratory is investigating the molecular mechanisms of this edema-induced intestinal contractile dysfunction including edema-induced alterations in STAT3 and NF-kappaB signaling, cytoskeletal alterations and the regulation of myosin light chain phosphorylation.
Qualifications:
Applicants with a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent is required. Applicants should also have a strong physiology background with a demonstrable mastery of molecular biology techniques.
One should also have a good comprehension of the English language, the ability to work with others in various interactive situations, as well as a high motivation level.
