With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates, and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies and incorporated these into a comprehensive system to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development. The Cardiovascular Research group of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual for a Research Associate position to assist in the development of new therapeutics for vascular disease. The successful candidate must have sophisticated in vivo skills in rodents and 3-5 years of laboratory research experience, academic or other, in rodent models of cardiovascular diseases. We are specifically interested in candidates with advanced technical skills in one of two areas: 1. Microsurgery and vascular surgery The successful candidate will have experience in rodent models of cardiovascular disease. Specifically, experience with coronary artery ligation, vascular surgery, vessel ligations, telemetry implant. 2. Microultrasound, in vivo imaging We are seeking an experienced microultrasound technician. Experience with the VisualSonics/Vevo platform a plus. Specific imaging skills to evaluate cardiac function, vascular biology, renal biology, tissue perfusion preferred. Individuals with experience in other imaging platforms such as MRT, echocardiography, Doppler, etc. would also be great candidates for this position. We are particularly interested in highly motivated individuals with an understanding of normal and cardiovascular disease physiology, seeking an opportunity to develop their research skills in pursuit of a successful career in science. RESPONSIBILITIES: 60% Hands on experimentation in vivo 10% Data analysis: EXCEL or other data management, statistics 10% Laboratory preparation for in vivo studies 5% Maintenance and inventory of non-breeding animal colony 5% Recordkeeping/Lab Notebook 5% Participation in department meetings 5% Literature Review Experience: TECHNICAL SKILLS: Microsurgery techniques in mice and/or rats. Particularly: Vascular surgery, coronary artery ligation, carotid artery ligation, telemetry implant. Microultrasound technician: Vevo 770 or Vevo 2100, quantitation of cardiac function, vascular imaging, tissue perfusion, organ imaging, contrast enhanced ultrasound using microbubbles, other in vivo imaging systems: Doppler, echocardiogram, magnetic resonance imaging, experience with in vivo models of cardiovascular diseases in rats and mice. CORE COMPETENCIES: Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular biology and cardiovascular diseases in both human and rodents, with an understanding general physiology in humans and rodents. Communication, recordkeeping and organization skills are critical.
