Job description:
The Senior Systems Engineer leads a variety of DxN Systems Engineering projects with an emphasis on servicing and troubleshooting DxN internal placements of prototype and pilot instruments, ensuring resolution of instrument issues and managing their hardware and software configurations. The incumbent will work with DxN leaders across multiple sites and functions to ensure accurate documentation, prioritization and root cause analysis of failures and coordinate upgrades as needed, ensuring maximum uptime for the program’s assay development group. The incumbent will also be expected to surface and communicate system improvement opportunities; participate in test planning, execution and documentation; and participate in technical review activities. This position will be located at the Beckman-Coulter Danver’s facility, but report to the Systems Engineering manager in Chaska.
Responsibilities include:
· Maintaining maximum instrument operation through troubleshooting, in-house service support, corrective action implementation, and issues management.
· Having regular contact with all instrument operators including assay development, systems engineering, manufacturing and any others to document, prioritize, and implement corrective actions, improvements, and planned updates.
· Manage and document the configuration of all instruments at the Danvers Facility and coordinate with the Systems Engineering lead for Support.
· Transferring knowledge gained by the systems group during development and troubleshooting to the service and support organizations.
· Conducting empirical and theoretical analysis, interpreting experimental data, and reviewing designs in the formulation of conclusions, exercising judgment to determine appropriate action.
· Participate in cross-functional teams to collaborate on plans, coordinate activities and communicate progress, as well as explore alternatives by involving stakeholders in decision making and prioritization
· Assist in system test planning, test execution and data analysis.
Qualifications:
· B.S. (advanced degree preferred) in Engineering or related discipline
· 5+ years experience in instrument, software or engineering product development, preferably in a systems engineering or service/support role
· Experience in software, mechanical and electrical engineering systems
· Working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulation and experience developing medical devices strongly preferred
· Demonstrated ability to work independently
· Team player with strong customer orientation
· Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
· Knowledge of hardware and software configuration management required
· Proficient in MS Project, Excel, and other MS Office tools
