Postdoctoral fellow in redox stress

Posted by: Instituto de Química, Universidade de são Paulo

Posted date: Apr-29-2019

Location: São Paulo/SP/Brazil

A post-doctoral position is open in the Research Center on Redox Processes in Biomedicine, one of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (CEPIDs) funded by FAPESPin the Chemistry Institute,  University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. We are seeking a highly motivated young PhD with knowledge in the field of chemistry, biochemistry and redox processes.  A competence in mass spectrometry is also desirable.

The objective of the project “DNA-aldehyde adducts as biomarker of air pollution exposure”  is to investigate the mechanisms of modifications in DNA promoted by endogenous reactive aldehydes in humans and rats exposed to urban air pollution. Proposing strategies to prevent such modifications is also the goal of the project. Our laboratory established high-resolution mass spectrometry tools for conducting sophisticated proteomics, DNA-adductomics, and lipidomics research with emphasis on discovering biomarkers of redox stress induced by air pollution.
Interested applicants should email a cover letter with the description of research interests and experience, curriculum vitae, and contact information of three references (in pdf format) to mhgdmede(at)iq.usp.br
