Lab Assistant Position Description
The successful candidate will work under a group of bioanalytical virologists responsible for supporting the transfer of Animal Health test methods and production processes.
Duties include:
• Clean / setup bioreactor equipment and monitor cultures under the direction of senior scientists
• Performance of immunological and cell culture based assays for virus quantitation/detection
• Routine passage of cell culture stocks.
• Monitor usage of laboratory stocks / materials and provide feedback for ordering.
• Understand and follow company policies and procedures (SOPs, GMP, Safety)
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
• Learn and demonstrate understanding of basic sterilization principles
• Assist in inventory management of laboratory supplies
• Manage and prioritize daily assignments
• Use word processor, database, and spreadsheets to compile and report results
• Be available for laboratory work outside normal working hours
Experience:
Preferred experience in biological science techniques applicable to assay methods or cell culture is preferred. Experience in cell culture techniques, ELISA, automation equipment, immunoflourescent assays or viral propogation is desired. Position requires good communication skills a willingness to take on all assigned tasks (big or small). Experience in animal health industry and applied knowledge on the conduct of biological assays, cell culture or bioreactor fermentation would be a plus.
Education:
Required : College level coursework in biological sciences, or applicable experience.
Desired: B.S. in Microbiology or related field
