We invite applications for PhD. or MD-PhD. student positions for basic and translational research-oriented projects related to DNA damage response and receptor tyrosine kinases signaling in cancer. Cellular and molecular biology-based assays, (single-cell) omic techniques and animal models will be used for these investigations. For particular projects, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma as a tumor entity lies in the center of our interest.
PhD./MD-PhD. studies will be conducted in the frame of the Graduate School for Biomedical and Cellular Sciences, University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland, and will be performed in the Radiation Oncology lab (Group Prof. Dr. Yitzhak Zimmer, Group PD Dr. Michaela Medová) at the Department for BioMedical Research in Bern, Switzerland.
Background and requirements:
Applicants should hold a Swiss or an equivalent Diploma/MSc degree in medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences or pharmacology. Applicants must have the academic credentials for registration to the Graduate School of the University of Bern (www.gcb.unibe.ch). We are searching for highly self-motivated, independent and committed candidates who would like to embark further on a scientific career. Previous laboratory experience in updated methods of molecular and cellular biology is necessary. Proven experience with genome-editing approaches such as CRISPR/Cas, flow/mass cytometry, confocal microscopy, animal handling as well as acquaintance with bioinformatics tools will serve as an important advantage.
