A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the laboratory of Johannes Schlondorff in the Division of Nephrology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. The laboratory focuses on understanding glomerular podocytes and their role in kidney health and disease, with a particular interest in understanding the development and progression of proteinuric kidney diseases such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Several current projects focus on the role of TRPC6 channel mutations as a genetic cause of FSGS. The laboratory utilizes an array of techniques spanning protein biochemistry, cell biology, and genetically engineered mouse models in our efforts.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree with a strong background in cell biology, cell signaling or animal models. Prior experience in the areas of kidney disease or TRP channel biology is highly desirable, but not necessary. Applicants should have a record of scientific achievement, be highly self-motivated, have a collaborative attitude, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
