Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemical Biology / Chemical Proteomics

Posted by: Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

Posted date: Jan-21-2019

Location: Be'er Sheva, Israel

The Meijler group is searching for a talented chemical biologist with experience in the use of small molecule probes to study biological systems. The candidate should preferably have a wide range of experience in more than one of the following fields: organic chemistry, mass spectrometry, biophysical characterization of protein-ligand interactions and proteomics. The specific project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in the framework of the Germany-Israel Project, and it focuses on the following exciting and fundamental questions: how do bacteria in the human gut sense incoming bacteria chemically? What signals are recognized and which proteins function as the sensors? With use of small reactive molecular probes based on bacterial signaling molecules, the candidate will apply advanced chemical proteomics techniques, in collaboration with the group of Prof. Matthias Mann (MPI Biochemistry) to identify and validate (in collaboration with Prof. Eran Elinav, WIS) relevant proteins. For more information about the Meijler group please visit http://www.bgu.ac.il/~meijler and for further inquiries please send an email to meijler(at)bgu.ac.il.
