Regeneron is a biopharmaceutical Company that discovers, develops, and commercializes therapeutic medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron currently markets ARCALYST (rilonacept) Injection for subcutaneous use for the treatment of a rare, inherited, inflammatory condition. The company has therapeutic candidates in clinical trials for the potential treatment of cancer, eye diseases and inflammatory diseases, and has preclinical programs in other diseases and disorders.
With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand thoroughly the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies, which it has incorporated into a comprehensive system that allows it to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development.
Regeneron is seeking a highly motivated virologist with a masters or bachelors degree to join a new laboratory working on immunotherapy of infectious disease. Incumbent should be both highly skilled in virology and have practical experience to be able to carry out experiments, with minimum supervision, designed to answer specific questions as defined within the project. These may include ELISAs, viral growth assays, plaque formation and cytopathic effect assays. Incumbent should be able to perform routine tasks involved in running a virology laboratory including knowledge of techniques, basic safety procedures in BL2 laboratory and correct storage and handling of viruses. Knowledge of animal models would be a distinct advantage. A general understanding of general immunology would also be helpful. The successful candidate will need to be highly organized, flexible preferably with experience in working in a team environment.
Experience:
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Cell biology, virology. Incumbent should have experience with growing at least one type of virus
CORE COMPETENCIES: Incumbent should be able to perform routine tasks involved in running a virology research laboratory including knowledge of viral culture techniques, basic safety procedures in BL2 laboratory and correct storage and handling of viruses. Incumbent should also be able to carry out experiments, with minimum supervision, designed to answer specific questions as defined within the project. These may include viral growth assays, plaque formation assays and cytopathic effect (CPE) assays. A general understanding of virology and general immunology would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of
zaimal models would also be helpful.
