We are seeking an outstanding, inquisitive scientist interested in understandings on how neuromodulators affect neural dynamics influencing an animal’s behavior, using Drosophila as a model organism. We use a range of approaches, including neural circuit-based studies, Optogenetics based neural switches (ChR and GtACR), molecular-genetic perturbations, genomics, Transgenic animal preparation, and behavioral neuroscience to address fundamental questions about signaling between neurons. We are particularly interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about using multidisciplinary approaches in their work. Successful applicants will be involved in defining their own research direction. For information on research see https://www.nature.com/articles/nmeth.4148 and https://www.cell.com/current-biology/full text/S0960-9822(16)30084-7 and others at https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Farhan_Mohammad2 Responsibilities Specific duties include LAB maintenance, Drosophila genetics, assays of behaviors, Drosophila stocks maintenance, standard molecular biology experiments and general laboratory maintenance as needed.
