Description: Our laboratory seeks a self-motivated postdoctoral research associate to conduct experiments using a novel ultrasound technology and application, including multiple combination therapies toward immunogenicity.
The successful candidate will work on multidisciplinary projects focused on the development of ultrasound systems for treating tumors, metastases and other serious medical conditions. Robotics, software data sets, imaging, and clinical methods will be studied, employed and developed in bench tests and preclinical cancer models. Ultrasound will be combined with other treatment modalities, including radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. Efforts will be directed towards developing non-invasive, cost-effective technologies that can be tested in cancer models and quickly brought into clinical trials. The appointment is for two years.
Location: This exciting opportunity is within the lab of Dr. Chandan Guha. With 14 patents and extensive research outcomes within various “energy” based therapies beginning in the early 90’s, Dr. Guha serves on numerous boards and is well known as a pioneer in therapeutic ultrasound, radiation and other energy-based therapies. He has generated over $10m in NIH research grants accelerating the need for this position and advancing research.
The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary teams within the Institute of Oncophysics at the Einstein College of Medicine and with Department of Radiation Oncology at Montefiore Einstein Medical Center and with industry partners.
Future opportunity may exist for successful candidates to participate in an established commercial enterprise for this research and development as a result of this appointment.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a BS in Biomedical Engineering with strong academic performance, experience in ultrasound systems. Instrumentation programming, for example experience with LabView programming or Arduino programing, CAD software, ultrasound instrumentation, conducting cell assays, conducting in vivo experiments Experience with ultrasound to image and treat animal cancer models is highly desirable. Exemplary candidates will have demonstrated the ability to design and perform experimental work, write reports, and to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
