Post Doc Position in Plant Molecular Physiology

Posted by: University of Sao Paulo

Posted date: Feb-02-2018

Location: São Paulo

The selected candidate will work at the Laboratory of Plant Physiological Ecology (LAFIECO) of the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo, linked to the Bioethanol National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT). Solid experience in Biochemistry and Physiology of Primary Metabolism is essential with respect to extraction and analytical measurements of metabolites specially concerning carbohydrates and phosphorylated sugars (e.g. HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS and spectrophotometric assays), activity assays for evaluating enzymes playing a role in carbon partitioning and utilization, immunoblotting, and gene expression analysis. Previous experience with sugarcane and extensive knowledge on sugar sensing and signalling (trehalose-6-phosphate, target of rapamycin kinase, SNF1- related kinase 1) are mandatory. Experience with plant physiological responses to changing environments (e.g. elevated CO2) is desired, as for basic understanding of statistics tools. The selected candidate will investigate how sugar signalling pathways modulate carbon metabolism in sugarcane to produce biomass and yield based on metabolomics, enzyme activity assays and transcriptomics. The obtained data will be integrated using different tools developed in the group. The validity of this FAPESP fellowship is 12 months, extendable for more 12 months.
