A position for a highly motivated postdoc is available in Dr. Thorsten Maretzky’s laboratory in the Inflammation Program of the Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City.
Studies in the lab are focused on tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α signaling in innate immunity and inflammatory disease as well as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation with an emphasis on its role in cancer development and progression.
Mouse models and cell-based assays are used with both murine and human cells to understand the contribution of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cell types in driving epithelial wound repair as well as the temporal aspects of inflammation with a special focus on mucosal immunity and associated cancers.
High motivation, strong interest in myeloid cell biology, host-pathogen interactions, innate immunity, cell death, or tumor immunology, and previous training in biomedical research are required.
