Associate Specialist, Step I-IV â Toll-like Receptor Biology, Immunology â Molecular & Cell Biology
The Barton lab in the department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley seeks an Associate Specialist. The goals of the Barton lab are to research the molecular basis of innate immunity. We are looking for a motivated Associate Specialist with enthusiasm and necessary skills to tackle these problems using multidisciplinary approaches combining expertise in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry and mouse genetics.
â¢ Independent research on Unc93b1 control of TLR function
â¢ Generate and analyze cell lines expressing mutant alleles of Unc93b1
â¢ Biochemically analyze of TLR function in cell lines expressing mutant Unc93b1
â¢ Biochemically purify Unc93b1 protein complexes
â¢ Prepare samples for mass spectrometry; analyze mass spectrometry data
â¢ Generate and analyze gene edited mice using CRISPR/Cas9.
â¢ Tissue culture and molecular biology, including flow cytometry
â¢ Maintenance and organization of a substantial mouse colony
â¢ Supervision of undergraduate researchers
Minimum/Basic Qualifications Required (By the time of application): Masterâs (or equivalent degree) in Molecular & Cell Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or related.
Additional Qualifications Required (by start date): The successful candidate will have at least five years of postdoctoral laboratory/research employment. Candidate must have expertise with analysis of TLR cell biology, including biochemical purification of Unc93b1-TLR protein complexes, generation of mice using CRISPR/Cas9, cell culture, flow cytometry, and mouse husbandry and genetics.
Preferred Qualifications (by start date): Ph.D (or equivalent degree) in Molecular & Cell Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or related. Excellent communication skills and careful attention to details.
Appointment: This position reports to Professor Greg Barton. The appointment is for 2 years. The approximate start date of this position will be February 1, 2018.
Salary: $54,744 - $65,904 at 100% time, depending on qualifications. This position provides full benefits.
