Associate Specialist, Step I-IV ‚Äď Genetics, Genomics and Development‚Äď Molecular and Cell Biology
Lab Description:
The Garriga Lab at UC Berkeley is interested in understanding how nervous systems develop. We ask how asymmetric cell division, cell migration, and axonal pathfinding contribute to the final form and connectivity of the Caenorhabditis elegans nervous system.
 
Responsibilities:
Program development and research duties are to carry out confocal time lapse imaging of several GFP tagged molecules that are asymmetrically distributed in specific cells that divide during C. elegans development. These molecules will be imaged in several mutant and transgenic animal strains.

Minimum/Basic Qualifications Required (By the time of application): Master’s degree or equivalent in Developmental and Cell Biology or related field.
Additional Qualifications Required (by start date): The successful candidate will have experience with time-lapse confocal microscopy, C.elegans genetics and molecular biology.
Preferred Qualifications (by start date): PhD or equivalent degree in Molecular and Cell Biology or related field. Excellent communication skills and careful attention to detail.
Appointment: This position reports to Dr. Gian Garriga. The initial appointment is for 100% (full-time) for 3 months, not to exceed 6 months. The approximate start date of this position will be November 2017.
Salary: $54,744‚Äď $65,904 annually depending on qualifications. This position provides CORE benefits.
