Micro Photonics advances research and development by supplying, supporting, and demonstrating scientific instrumentation. We have partnered with Bruker Micro-CT to create a Center of Excellence for nondestructive 3D X-ray imaging, which universities, industrial leaders, and government laboratories turn to for information, laboratory services, sales, training and support of the Bruker SkyScan line of micro-CT systems. We are looking for a motivated, customer focused, technical standout to help us expand the boundaries of scientific knowledge.

Summary of responsibilities

The Laboratory Sales Engineer will be responsible for advanced customer interaction through instrument demonstration, sample testing, and support of our micro-CT product line, utilizing our fully equipped Micro-CT Imaging Laboratory in Allentown, PA. Job duties primarily include understanding the application needs of sales prospects; positioning unique features of our systems; demonstrating product advantages; providing advanced application consultation and training; attending conferences with speaking roles; and working closely with the Product Manager on pre-sale strategy and feedback to the R&D and Applications team.

Excellent communication skills and an innate curiosity are vital for exploring and discerning our customers needs and then exceeding their expectations through knowledge of the instruments across multi-disciplinary scientific fields.

Responsibilities:

Support the growth of Micro-CT Instrument and Contrast Testing revenues by building long-term relationships with our customers and translating their needs into specific achievable results.
Manage all Bruker micro-CT laboratory functions, including: sample organization, scanning, report writing, system setup, calibrations, customer interaction, project tracking, and system support.
Expand scientific knowledge by collaborating with selected customers for presentations, publications, and other unique projects.
Prepare quotes for lab testing, computer sales, and spare parts.
Train customers on our Bruker software programs and system operation, both in person and through remote TeamViewer sessions.
Develop instructional method notes, videos, and tips to aid customers in system and software procedures.
Meticulously maintain laboratory scanners and computers (both software and hardware), including maintenance log, system documentation, and radiation safety reports.
Assist in onsite and remote system troubleshooting and in-house spare parts inventory management as needed. Minor travel may be required.
Provide articles to our blog and micro-CT newsletter.



Knowledge, skills and abilities

Previous experience running a laboratory, scientific instrumentation, Micro-CTs.
Must be comfortable handling biological specimens, including human and animal.
Must have great organizational skills for project management.
Have curiosity regarding our customers research and learn why it is important.
Ability to solve problems remotely.
Able to travel within U.S. and internationally.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Self-motivated.
Experience in consultative selling and research.
Strong computer skills, both software and hardware replacement.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel (including plotting/charting and data manipulation), and Outlook.


Qualifications:

Bachelors degree with 5 years experience, Masters degree with 3 years experience or a PhD without experience. Degree should be in an Engineering or Science Discipline.
Experience with using Micro-CT preferred
Current valid driving license (mandatory)
Fluent in English (mandatory)
