Research Associate Scholarās position is immediately available in a genetic epidemiology for finding and characterizing susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Major foci involve large-scale genome-wide association and high-throughput sequencing and follow-up functional studies using families and population based datasets. Qualifications include but not limited to a graduate degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or related fields. Applicants with expertise in molecular biology, molecular genetics or cell functional studies with experience in cell culture will be particularly preferred. Highly motivated individuals with intense interest in science and enthusiasm to understand the genetic complexities of metabolic diseases are invited to apply for this position. Candidates must be self-driven, enthusiastic, fast learner, and well organized. Must be able to multi-task and solve problems creatively and with the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Candidates with fresh Ph.D. or within 1-2 years of post-doctoral experience and first-author publications in internationally recognized journals are preferred.
Position requires performing various duties including high-throughput sample preparation, SNP genotyping, microarrays, and data analysis, manuscript preparation while paying strict attention to details and use of complex equipment and computer terminals. Starting salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
