¬†Master Position in the field of ‚ÄúInnovative development of quantitative mass spectrometry approach associated to protein detection in the biomedical area‚ÄĚ
Area of the proposed research ‚Äď Job description
The proposed master research position will be carried in the proteomic and microbiology (ProtMic) department of the UMONS active in the fields of protein chemistry and mass spectrometry associated to biological polymers. The research position will be associated to new Bioprofiling platform developed by the ProtMic department.
The main purpose to the project associated with the job consists in the development in a solution allowing robust standardization of MS based quantitative protein analysis in the biomedical context. The considered techniques are mass spectrometry, including MRM (like) approach and protein/peptide chromatography.
More precisely, the scientific position will include the following tasks:
Ô∑ Development of polymer standards using in silico and in vitro approaches;
Ô∑ Production of polymer standards for all partners;
Ô∑ Design and Development of a robust standardization of a MRM like approach;
Ô∑ Validation of the developed methods;
During the project, the candidate will have to interact strongly with academic and industrial partners of the project. In particular, a strong interaction between the candidate and the mass spectrometry Laboratory of Ulg will be asked.
Education: Candidates must hold a Master degree (5-years duration) in Chemical /Biological or (Bio)Chemical engineer fields with a strong interest in protein chemistry , mass spectrometry associated to polypeptide analysis and in medical diagnosis.
Languages: A good knowledge of French and English is required, both oral and written.
Other skills: Writing skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, rigor, conciseness and motivation with knowledge on protein production, purification and characterization will be highly appreciated.
The candidate will be hosted in a nice working environment under a challenging job at a dynamic and ambitious University. Salaries are in accordance with the internal University agreement and consists of 1900 ‚ā¨/month (net amount).
