postdoctoral fellowship in epithelial and developmental biology

A two year postdoctoral fellowship is available in the laboratory of Prof. Ronaldo Ferraris, Dept. of Pharmacology and Physiology, New Jersey Medical School, 185 S. Orange Ave., Newark, NJ 07103-1709, to study the adaptive characteristics of intestinal epithelial cells using a highly innovative experimental approach that directs the differentiation of stem cells to specific mature cell types. The fellow will investigate how differentiation and dedifferentiation modulate the nutrient sensing properties of different intestinal absorptive and secretory cell types. The fellow will also have opportunities to study intestinal mucosal responses to probiotics and intestinal metabolism of sugars, mainly fructose. Candidates must have training and demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, gastrointestinal or nutritional physiology and, preferably, in metabolic biochemistry.
The minimum requirement for this position is a PhD degree. Send CV and names of 3-4 references to Prof. Ferraris.
