Postdoctoral Researcher Position
at National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC),
National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)
BIOTEC, part of the national center complex in Thailand, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in Fungal Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry. The successful candidate will be working on characterization of polyketide synthase (PKS) genes in the fungus Beauveria bassiana. We have obtained the null mutant of which each of these PKS genes has been disrupted. The main objective is to determine roles of these enzymes in pathogenesis against insects using the null mutants and the overexpressing mutants as tools.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
1) Overexpression of these PKS genes in Beauveria bassiana. 2) Comparative study in fungal physiology, biochemistry, pathogenicity to insect hosts between wild type and the null- and overexpressing mutant strains. 3) Cell wall analysis of the mutants compared to wild type by staining and component extraction. 4) Mass spectrometry analysis of fungal cells and cell walls and 5) Preparation of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals.
•Ph.D. in Fungal Biology and Physiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Host-Microbe Interaction, Secondary Metabolite Biosynthesis, or Natural product Chemistry. • Basic knowledge of Mycology particularly with insect fungi. • Experienced in light, fluorescence/confocal, and electron microscopy.
