Postdoctoral Research Associate in Drug Discovery/Biochemistry/Cell Biology

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of William Ja. The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary effort to discover small molecule modulators of metabolism and aging. The research team will develop and perform cell-based assays for testing compounds, profile small molecules in vitro and in vivo, and investigate drug mechanisms of action. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the design and development of cell-based assays using fluorecence- and luminescence-based formats, screen compounds, and identify and validate targets for drug discovery by gene manipulation studies. Future work includes potential collaboration and training with high-throughput screening and drug discovery facilities at Scripps.

Ideal candidates will be capable of establishing independent research projects and work well with scientific colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should have expertise in molecular and cell biology, cancer biology, pharmacology, or a related discipline.
